Former WWE wrestler Matt Cappotelli dies of brain cancer

FORMER WWE star Matt Cappotelli died on Friday after a battle with cancer, his wife announced. He was 38.

Lindsay Cappotelli made the announcement on Facebook noting her husband died “exactly one year after his brain surgery.”

“Today my love-my strong, sweet, beautiful love-took his last breath at 3:30am and went Home to be with Jesus exactly one year after his brain surgery,” she wrote.

“You think you can be prepared for this when you know it’s coming, but you just can’t. The only person whose comfort I want right now is the one who can’t give it to me. I miss him so much. I know where he is now is so much better, but it doesn’t change how much I miss him,” she continued.

Lindsay Cappotelli wrote in a blog entry that her husband underwent the surgery to remove the tumour but doctors found he had Glioblastoma.

“Glioblastoma is an aggressive type of cancer that can occur in the brain or spinal cord,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

“Glioblastoma forms from cells called astrocytes that support nerve cells.”

The WWE also announced the death of the former co-winner of WWE Tough Enough III.

“WWE is saddened to learn that Matt Cappotelli, a promising Superstar who was a co-winner of WWE Tough Enough III, passed away Friday at age 38,” the WWE tweeted.

The WWE said Cappotelli, a former Western Michigan University football player, rose quickly in the WWE following his win in the reality competition.

Cappotelli went on to train in the Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE’s then-developmental system, but it was cut short after he was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006.

He survived the battle but the cancer returned in 2017.

“Life is the most precious gift we’re given,” Cappotelli told the WWE in 2017 of his cancer diagnosis.

“If I can inspire others to not give up on the life they’ve been blessed to have, that’s what I’m trying to spread — hope.”

Welp, Here They Are! The FIRST PHOTOS of Drake’s Newborn Son Adonis!

Newly released photos show Drake’s infant son Adonis.

Thanks to the release of Drake’s latest album Scorpion, the mystery behind whether Drake was hiding a child has officially been solved. In not just one, not two, but THREE songs from the project, Drake confirms that yes, he IS the father of Baby Adonis, and even though he doesn’t outright mention neither Adonis nor his former porn star baby mama Sophie Brussaux’s name, we know exactly who he’s talking about.

In “Emotionless”—a song featured on the “A Side” of Scorpion, Drake raps, “I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world/I was hidin’ the world from my kid/From empty souls who just wake up and looked to debate/Until you starin’ at your seed, you can never relate.”

He adds, “Breakin’ news in my life, I don’t run to the blogs/The only ones I wanna tell are the ones I can call/They always ask, ‘Why let the story run if it’s false?’ You know a wise man once said nothin’ at all.”

Drake is basically saying that by not revealing that he has a son, he was protecting Adonis from the scrutiny from the world that comes along with being the lovechild of the biggest rapper alive. He also explains why he never confirmed set the record straight on the reports that he denied the child and was a deadbeat father, which were perpetuated by Pusha T’s “Story of Adidon” diss track.

Drizzy also addresses his relationship with his now 8-month-old son Adonis’ mother by referencing Michael Jackson’s hit “Billie Jean” in the song “March 14″—which is the last track on the album and is featured on the “B Side.”

“She’s not my lover like Billie Jean but the kid is mine / Sandi used to tell me all it takes is one time, and all it took was one time / Sh**, we only met two times, two times,” he raps. Here, he’s saying that his mother, Sandi Graham, warned him that it only took one instance of unprotected sex to make a baby, and in his case, it was two.

He continues, “Now it’s rough times, I’m out here on front lines / Just tryin’ to make sure that I see him sometimes / It’s breakin’ my spirit / Single father, I hate when I hear it / I used to challenge my parents on every album / Now I’m embarrassed to tell them I ended up as a co-parent / Always promised the family unit / I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it.”

Drake’s saying that he always wanted to have a family, but because he grew up in a single-parent household, he’s never wanted that for his children. Instead, he wanted to do things the so-called “right way” by fathering children with his wife. He also talks about how his busy schedule doesn’t allow him to see his son as much as he would like.

On “March 14,” Drake confirms that Adonis was born on October 11th, just two weeks before his own birthday on October 24th, and he says he celebrated in Miami when the DNA test confirmed that he was the boy’s father on March 14th, hence the track’s title.

Drake also reveals that he while he rushed out and bought a crib for his son, he’s only met him once at Christmas time, confirming reports that he flew Adonis and Sophia out via private jet for the Holidays last year. “I only met you one time, introduced you to Saint Nick / I think he musta brought you like 20 gifts / Your mother say you growin’ so fast that they don’t even really fit / But man, you know / I still had to get it for my boy though.”

The rapper goes on to say that he’s looking forward to another visit and he hopes that his relationship with Sophie improves: “They said that in two weeks you’re supposed to come in town / Hopefully by the time you hear this / Me and your mother will have come around/Instead of always cuttin’ each other down.”

Drake addresses the topic for a third time on the track “8 Out of 10,” which is also what fans believe is a direct response to the Pusha T diss track: “The only deadbeats is whatever beats I been rappin’ to,”he raps, followed by “Never a matter of ‘could I?’ or ‘should I?’ / Kiss my son on the forehead then kiss your ass goodbye.”

The song concludes with audio from a viral Plies video in which the rapper talks about refusing to argue with people: “I can’t argue wit you. You mad … I don’t get paid to argue with you… who is you? You ain’t nobody. You mad!”

Who knows whether Drake would have even mentioned Adonis if Pusha T hadn’t forced his hand, but the good thing is that Drake is definitely stepping up and at least trying to be a father to the kid.

That being said, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the child. Hell, we don’t even know if his name is really Adonis, but thanks to some new photos shared online, we do have a first glimpse at what Drake’s firstborn looks like.

Though Sophie has declined to show off her child to the rest of the world, the internet will always internet and pull out those receipts. The photos posted here don’t reveal a whole lot, but it’s the only real first look we have of Adonis and shows more of his face than the original photos Sophie posted on her Instagram.

It looks like these photos were taken shortly after Sophie gave birth, as she can be seen wearing a hospital bracelet in one of the pics. Adonis is now 8 months old and probably looks very different.

Logies 2018: James Weir recaps the pending trainwreck

AFTER the Victorian Government became so embarrassed having its capital city marred by the annual Logie Awards it pulled funding, Aussie TV’s night of nights is currently pitching its tent in a more appropriate place: the Gold Coast.

That sounds condescending but it’s truly meant with affection. The Gold Coast is terrific. And it’s great to see the city finally being trusted with shouldering an esteemed event.

Home to such legends as Schapelle Corby and that Heather girl from series three of The Bachelor, there’s really no better place to celebrate Australian television’s finest work this Sunday night.

Still, it seems no one really wants to go.

The decision to hold the Logies on the Gold Coast has been met with the same bitterness you throw at those friends for having a destination wedding.

“How rude to assume we just all want to go to the Gold Coast!” Georgie Gardner probably said to her husband over a glass of wine at the kitchen bench upon hearing the location.

“I mean, it’s not like we’d even choose to go there for a holiday,” Waleed Aly probably said to his wife Dr Susan Carland in a lengthy editorial over dinner.

“Are we expected to pay?” notoriously frugal Kochie probably said as Sam Armytage ignored him.

Even Gold Logie nominee Jessica Marais has pulled out of attending just days before the ceremony. She probably hadn’t even bothered booking a flight in the first place.

But it does appear ceremony producers are still desperately grasping at some scrappy remnants of razzle dazzle. They’re staging the broadcast at The Star Casino and Hotel and, honestly, it all seems a bit too la-di-da. Carrara Stadium is just down the road and if it was good enough for the crap fest that became the Commonwealth Games opening and closing ceremonies, it’s good enough for the Logies.

The setting would’ve also been a nice full circle moment for Australia’s favourite shock jock Johanna Griggs. Recreating the moment she set fire to the Commonwealth Games, she could’ve gone rogue midway through the ceremony and just started roasting local television stars.

“Do your Karl Stefanovic Uber phone call impression!” we’d scream from the canteen line while waiting for hot chips.

And just because not many notable people are going doesn’t mean to say the location is substandard. Okay, so Samantha Armytage and Kochie — the hosts of Australia’s number one breakfast TV show — aren’t going. That doesn’t mean anything. They’ve bullied Edwina Bartholomew into taking a Rex flight to appear in their place.

The Gold Coast is a glamorous and global town to host the Logies and our stars should consider themselves lucky because, if I was organising it, I would’ve selected somewhere even more regional just to annoy them all. The event and attendees will bring to the city a level of class and grace it hasn’t seen since Schoolies 2017.

I’m watching EVERYONE and assessing them for Big Dick Energy. It has been extremely time consuming and I haven’t had time to watch normal things most people spend their time viewing like MasterChef. I imagine Kochie will be doing just this on Sunday evening when he’s not on the Gold Coast attending the Logies.

Madonna told to stop harassing neighbours

A MANHATTAN judge has a message for Madonna: stop messing with your neighbours.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gerald Lebovits said the pop superstar was “merely harassing” fellow residents of her Upper West Side co-op for continuing to seek records from the board after she lost a legal bid challenging a rule that required her to be physically present in her $7.3 million pad when any of her family or staff are there.

She wanted access to board records including voting information and annual meeting minutes to “investigate how her lease was changed” and “how her family may use Unit 7A without breaching the lease.”

“Plaintiff does not need those materials anymore to prove a case that, by law, she is no longer allowed to prove,” Lebovits wrote in the decision released Friday.

Madonna sued Harperley Hall on West 64th Street and Central Park West in 2016 — two years after the board changed her original proprietary lease to say that her children and domestic help cannot live in the unit unless she herself is “in residence” at the time.

“Plaintiff is a world-renowned recording artist, performer and singer who is constantly on world tours,” she griped in her 2016 suit.

“As such, plaintiff owns many residences around the world and travels extensively worldwide,” she said in court papers.

Last September, Lebovits said she waited too long to sue and tossed the claim challenging the new lease.

Now he’s also tossing her demand for co-op records, saying that issue is moot.

Lawyers for Madonna and the co-op board did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

Kim Kardashian Makes Tristan Unblock Her on Instagram As They Celebrate Khloe’s Birthday

Tristan Thompson and Kim Kardashian are friends again in real life and on social media.

Nearly three months after the Cleveland Cavaliers player blocked the reality star on the Instagram amid his cheating scandal drama, Kim and Tristan have called a digital truce.

Kim and Tristan were celebrating Khloe Kardashian’s 34th birthday Wednesday in Los Angeles, and Kim used that moment as an opportunity to ask Tristan to unblock her on Instagram.

“Alright, guys, so what do you think? It’s Khloe’s birthday—do you think I should ask this guy to unblock me?” Kim asked her followers in an Instagram Stories video pointing at Tristan in the background. “For Khloe’s birthday, I think it’s only right,” the 27-year-old NBA player responded as they both laughed. “So, uh, was that a yes?” Kim asked.

Thompson gave the camera two thumbs up and proceeded to go through the motions of unblocking Kim while she filmed it. “There’s no going back,” she told him. “Now, the question is: Should I follow you again?”

Uhm… can you say awkward?!

Making matters even more awkward was when Kim noticed Tristan had also blocked Khloe’s friends Khadijah and Malika Haqq and she shouted to them, “You guys! Did you know that he blocked you also?!”

Tristan blocked Kim on IG several months back after Kim addressed Tristan’s cheating allegations on an April episode of The Ellen Degeneres show. Just a few days after the TV appearance, the two unfollowed each other, with Kim hinting at their social media drama no too long after when she was asked about the cheating scandal on Live With Kelly and Ryan.

“Last time I went on TV and answered some questions about her, I got blocked on social media so…” she told the co-hosts. “Not from Khloe,” she clarified.

Now, months later, it looks like Tristan Thompson is back in the Kardashian family’s good graces.

XXXTentacion Laid to Rest in Private Funeral Service Attended by Friends & Family

XXXTentacion’s friends and family said their finals goodbyes to the rapper Thursday during a private funeral service in Florida.

Unlike the public memorial service that was attended by fans the day before, Thursday’s service was just for the “SAD!” rapper’s close friends and family. Among those in attendance included Erykah Badu and “Cash Me Ousside Girl” Danielle Bregoli (also known by her rap name Bhad Bhabie).

“LONG LIVE XXX,” Badu wrote along with a heart emoji while showing the funeral program. “‘They may try to erase your face But millions spring up in your place.’ -e.b.”

Bregoli, who made headlines last week after she broke down crying while talking to TMZ about her late friend, apparently took the service pretty hard. “Out of this short 15 years I’ve been alive watching that casket close today was the hardest thing I have ever had to watch,” she wrote on Snapchat. “I finally feel a little better that I got to say goodbye and tell you I love you for the last time.”

Nima Etminan, Vice President of EMPIRE, the record label XXX was signed to, recalled a quote the rapper’s great-grandmother said during the private funeral service. “In life, you can wait for storms to pass, or instead you can learn to dance in the rain,” she shared with the crowd. “Jah danced in the rain.”

XXXTentacion’s mom, Cleopatra Bernard, also posted about her son’s funeral on Instagram. “Goodbye my love, until we meet again,” she wrote.

The day before the private service, XXX was memorialized in a 6-hour open casket public service attended by thousands of his biggest fans at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

According to reports, mourners traveled from all over the country to pay their last respects to the rapper (real name: Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy) who was shot and killed last Monday in Deerfield Beach. The turnout was so large that many people opted to arrive as early as 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, about five hours before doors opened. Many were pictured breaking down in tears.

A number of celebrities were spotted at the public service, including rappers Lil Uzi Vert, PNB Rock, Lil Yachty and more. During the memorial, DJ Scheme, XXX’s producer and personal DJ, played the rapper’s music, and in between tracks, fans were treated to motivational words from his past viral videos.

A video montage of his performances played on two giant screens on the stage and the scoreboard in the middle of the arena. Two large photos of the rapper were placed on each end of the stage where his casket was.

“It was the most perfect thing for Jah,” Scheme told Billboard. “It described everything he was perfectly. These fans are our family so it’s nothing to show them his body. He would want that. I promise Jah was looking down at that event today with a huge smile.”

Cameras and cell phones were not allowed into the building, but those who attended were able to describe what XXX was wearing in his casket—a denim button down jacket and burgundy pants, with his signature locks braided.

Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty stood by the casket with X’s mother, who would periodically pause the line so that X’s famous friends could hav their own time with them. Ugly God was “visibly heartbroken” as he walked up to the casket and eventually became “inconsolable,” according to Billboard.

Tiurakh$ushii—a rapper form Lauderhill, FL and childhood friend of X—spoke to reporters outside the venue, saying that he didn’t want to in and look at his friend inside his casket. “I don’t want to see my boy like that,” he told the Sun-Sentinel.

The official video for XXXTentacion’s single “SAD!” was released Thursday morning. The video, written and creative directed by X, shows him attending his own funeral and fighting with his resurrected body. The song recently became the first posthumous No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 for a lead solo artist since The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money Mo Problems” in 1997.

Of the three men allegedly responsible for XXXTentacion’s shooting death, one was arrested last Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder. Dedrick Williams is being held in the Broward County Jail without bond, while his accomplices have warrants out for their arrest.

Tessa Thompson comes out as bisexual and says she loves Janelle Monáe ‘deeply’

Actress Tessa Thompson is opening up about rumours that she and Janelle Monáe are more than friends, according to the NY Post.

In a new interview with PorterEdit, Thompson, 34, says that she and Monáe, 32, “love each other deeply” and that they “vibrate on the same frequency.”

“I’m attracted to men and also to women. If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don’t even have to have the discussion.”

“So, do I have a responsibility to talk about that? Do I have a responsibility to say in a public space that this is my person?”

Finally, she explained that if people want to speculate about their relationship, it doesn’t bother her.

Earlier this year, singer Monáe came out as pansexual in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

She said, “Being a queer black woman in America, someone who has been in relationships with both men and women — I consider myself to be a free-ass mothers — ker.”

JAY-Z Wonders Why XXXTentacion Was Killed & George Zimmerman Wasn’t in New Drake Collab “Talk Up”

According to JAY-Z, when a group of masked men shot and killed rapper XXXTentacion last week in Florida, they got the wrong guy. It should have been George Zimmerman, JAY-Z raps in a new song with Drake on the latter’s newly released album Scorpion.

Drake released his new album Scorpion last night, and social media LOVED it. Drizzy is definitely spitting bars throughout the project, but one standout line actually comes from his friendly rival JAY-Z on the song “Talk Up.”

On the DJ Paul-produced track, Jay namedrops rapper XXXTentacion and Trayvon Martin’s killer George Zimmerman, wondering why the former isn’t alive and the latter still is. He also mentions how he’ll never sit down with that orange motherf***er who’s currently the POTUS.

“I got your president tweeting / I won’t even met with him / Y’all killed X and let Zimmerman live, Streets is done,” JAY-Z raps, referencing how XXXTentacion was killed in broad daylight by his own people, while Zimmerman, who unjustly killed a young black boy, is able to while around here free as a bird and bragging about how he basically got away with murder in between run-ins with the law.

The line was such a big hit with social media that the name “Zimmerman” was a trending topic for a few hours:

This wouldn’t be the first time Hov has mentioned George Zimmerman either. After Zimmerman threatened to “beat” the Brooklyn rapper back in 2017, Jay responded on “Top Off,” featuring his wife Beyoncé, Future and DJ Khaled.

He rapped on the single, released back in March, “Meanwhile Georgie Porgie sinnin’ and sendin’ me threats Save your breath, you couldn’t beat a flight of steps / Try that sh** with a grown man / I’ll kill that f***boy with my own hand.”

Drake has confirmed rumours he is a father in newest album, Scorpion

RAPPER Drake has seemingly confirmed a rumour that he’s a father on his new album.

In two songs on his fifth album, Scorpion, released today, the 31-year-old from Canada addresses rumours that he fathered a son with a former French adult-film star.

Remembering the Slain Capital Gazette Sports Writer

John McNamara, a widely regarded and respected veteran reporter at The Capital Gazette newspaper and editor of other local papers, was among the five people killed Thursday (Jun. 28) when a gunman opened fire in the paper’s newsroom.

Born and raised in Maryland, John McNamara, who went by the nickname “Mac,” graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1983, and spent the next few decades of his life in journalism, contributing to local newspapers with a particular focus in sports reporting.

A former colleague of McNamara described him as an old-school reporter.

“Definitely a pen and paper guy,” said David Elfin, who co-wrote a book on University of Maryland basketball with McNamara. “He didn’t wear a fedora, but maybe he should have.”

On social media, McNamara was an advocate for gun control and regularly spoke out against President Donald Trump. He was remembered for his love of sports reporting, his wit and his versatility.

“At a small paper like that, you have to be versatile,” former Capital Gazette editor Gerry Jackson said. “He could write. He could edit. He could design pages. He was just a jack of all trades and a fantastic person.”

A profile on McNamara in the Baltimore Sun described how he switched from a copy editor to a sports reporter, which was his dream job. According to the Sun, he was “remembered by his colleagues for his flexibility, concise writing and extensive knowledge of regional sports. He had a razor wit.”

McNamara enjoyed playing sports as much as he enjoyed writing about them, Jackson said. He was a part of a group who played basketball on Thursdays at the Annapolis Recreation Center. “He had this sneaky left-handed shot,” said Jackson, now an editor at The Baltimore Sun.

Reporter Claudia Rosenbaum wrote on Twitter: “I worked with John McNamara at a small local Maryland paper when I was starting out. He was the sports editor. I remember speaking to him about becoming a sports writer, even though I had no knowledge or interest in sports. Despite all that, he still encouraged me. Very sad.”

Another wrote, “John McNamara was the true essence of journalism—unbiased, strictly to inform the public type of storyteller. He was a really good guy. This is devastating. Prayers to his family, friends and loved ones. But it feels like prayers are just not enough.”

Marc Carig, Senior MLB writer for subscription-based sports website The Athletic, said, “John McNamara is one of the kindest people I’ve met in this biz. We’ve been friends since I was a young journalist covering Terps basketball. I had no idea what I was doing. He showed me the ropes. Please keep John and the other #CapitalGazette victims in your thoughts tonight.” He added, “John McNamara is one of the best people I’ve met in journalism. He was a great friend. I’m heartbroken. My thoughts are with his family and the rest of the victims of his horrible tragedy in Annapolis … Just so f***ing senseless.

McNamara discussed current events on Facebook, writing recently, “To anyone reading this: I cannot urge you strongly enough to see the two documentaries now out featuring Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Mr. Rogers. Seeing these two films will do you some serious good. Both are marvelous and moving. And, in these troubled times, when the forces of darkness seem to have gained the upper hand, it’s nice to be reminded that there is still justice and kindness in the world. You can thank me later…”

A post on June 19th, 2018 read: “Are we not all God’s children?”

Earlier this month, on June 4th, 2018, he quoted Theodore Roosevelt, writing: “No man is above the law and no man is below it: nor do we ask any man’s permission when we ask him to obey it.”

He also quoted Robert F. Kennedy in a 2017 post, writing, “What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love, and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black.”

On some posts, he would get political. “Trump’s next move in his quest to erase Obama’s legacy: Declaring Hawaii’s no longer a state,” he shared on May 8th, 2018. And sometimes he would write about his life as a journalist. One post from March 2018 read, “Writing for a newspaper is like having a paper due every day of your life.”

His last post on Facebook, written on Tuesday morning (Jun. 26), quoted an African proverb that states “Where there is no shame, there is no honor.”

According to his biography on The Capital Gazette’s website, McNamara—who edited the Bowie Blade-News and the Crofton-West County Gazette—”worked in various capacities” for the newspaper “for more than 20 years.” His LinkedIn page said he was a sports writer for The Capital Gazette.

In addition to sportswriting and reporting, McNamara also authored several books about Maryland sports, namely Maryland basketball and football. The books are for sale on Amazon. According to his Facebook page, he was working on his third book at the time of his death.

John McNamara was 56 years old.
