Chrissy Teigen exposes flaw in Disney’s The Little Mermaid

CHRISSY Teigen has pointed out a major flaw with The Little Mermaid, and the revelation has sent the internet into a spin.

The Lip Sync Battle host, who is known for sharing witty pearls of wisdom on Twitter, took to the social media site to expose a problem with the 1989 Disney flick.

“How does Ariel know what ‘reprimand’ means but not ‘feet’?”, the 32-year-old model asked fans, referring to lyrics in the song Part of Your World in which the young mermaid dreams about life on land.

“I want to be where the people are/ I want to see / want to see ‘em dancin’/ Walkin’ around on those/ (Whad’ya call ‘em?)/ Oh — feet,” Ariel sings.

Later she muses, “Betcha on land/ They understand/ Bet they don’t reprimand their daughters”.

When one of Teigen’s followers suggests Ariel may not know what the word for feet is because she doesn’t have them, the mother of two replied, “Her friends have feet. I don’t have a peen but I know what one is”.

She followed the tweet with: “By friends I mean things without fins.”

“But you can not have something and know what it is,” she continued. “Ariel this is v frustrating.”

Some commenters tried to justify Ariel’s poor vocabulary.

“Because she’s rebellious and gets reprimanded all the time but she never had feet. And no one she knows has feet,” said one fan.

“She’s like a sophomore in high school. Maybe she hasn’t taken terrestrial biology yet,” another wrote.

For others, the tweet opened up a can of worms and they shared other issues they had with the film.

“More importantly why doesn’t she just write her name down on a piece of paper and hand it to Eric?” @Jay00789 asks.

“THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE OMG,’ another user replied. ‘That drives me nuts. Write the boy a note, you twit. ‘ILU. Voice currently in hock with a sea witch. Long story. Ariel. Kiss? Y/N.’”

The comments are in reference to how Ariel trades her voice for legs and then once on land is unable to communicate with her prince, whom she must kiss in order to stay human.

“The bigger issue is that Ariel was straight up crushing on a different species and no one seems to care. But when Belle does it everyone loses their goddamn minds,” another Twitter user writes.

Others pointed out that Ariel is just 16 when she marries the prince.

Even Dictionary.com got in on the conversation, posting: “Wouldn’t you think she’s a girl … a girl who has … a dictionary? #WeFeelYou”
