Talks Body Image, Twins’ C-Section Birth, Her Ancestry and Much More

Beyoncé goes for a completely natural look for her September 2018 Vogue magazine cover. “I think it’s important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies,” she says in an essay penned for the cover story. “That’s why I stripped away the wigs and hair extensions and used little makeup for this shoot.”

Beyoncé’s Vogue spread was shot entirely by a young, black photographer. In fact, 23-year-old Tyler Mitchell is the first African American to shoot a Vogue cover in the magazine’s entire 126-year history, and Queen Bey is the reason why he’s making history. She was given full control over the direction of the shoot and its accompanying feature.

“It’s important to me that I help open doors for younger artists,” she said. “Until there is a mosaic of perspectives coming from different ethnicities behind the lens, we will continue to have a narrow approach and view of what the world actually looks like. That is why I wanted to work with this brilliant 23-year-old photographer Tyler Mitchell.”

The notoriously private entertainer, who rarely (if ever) does interviews these days, opened up about her body image, complications from her pregnancy with twins Rumi and Sir, her ancestry and legacy, Coachella, her OTRII stadium tour with husband JAY-Z, and more.

Here are some things we learned about Beyoncé from her Vogue essay:

1Beyoncé was more than 200 pounds after giving birth to the twins. She had an emergency C-Section and still has a little “FUPA” to this day, which she says she now embraces.

“After the birth of my first child, I believed in the things society said about how my body should look. I put pressure on myself to lose all the baby weight in three months, and scheduled a small tour to assure I would do it. Looking back, that was crazy. I was still breastfeeding when I performed the Revel shows in Atlantic City in 2012. After the twins, I approached things very differently.

“I was 218 pounds the day I gave birth to Rumi and Sir. I was swollen from toxemia and had been on bed rest for over a month. My health and my babies’ health were in danger, so I had an emergency C-section. We spent many weeks in the NICU. My husband was a soldier and such a strong support system for me. I am proud to have been a witness to his strength and evolution as a man, a best friend, and a father. I was in survival mode and did not grasp it all until months later.

“Today I have a connection to any parent who has been through such an experience. After the C-section, my core felt different. It had been major surgery. Some of your organs are shifted temporarily, and in rare cases, removed temporarily during delivery. I am not sure everyone understands that. I needed time to heal, to recover.

“During my recovery, I gave myself self-love and self-care, and I embraced being curvier. I accepted what my body wanted to be. After six months, I started preparing for Coachella. I became vegan temporarily, gave up coffee, alcohol, and all fruit drinks. But I was patient with myself and enjoyed my fuller curves. My kids and husband did, too.

“I think it’s important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies. That’s why I stripped away the wigs and hair extensions and used little makeup for this shoot.

“To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller. I have a little mommy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it. I think it’s real. Whenever I’m ready to get a six-pack, I will go into beast zone and work my ass off until I have it. But right now, my little FUPA and I feel like we are meant to be.”

2After researching her ancestry, Beyoncé found out one of her ancestors was a slave owner who fell in love with and married a slave.

“I come from a lineage of broken male-female relationships, abuse of power, and mistrust. Only when I saw that clearly was I able to resolve those conflicts in my own relationship. Connecting to the past and knowing our history makes us both bruised and beautiful.

“I researched my ancestry recently and learned that I come from a slave owner who fell in love with and married a slave. I had to process that revelation over time. I questioned what it meant and tried to put it into perspective. I now believe it’s why God blessed me with my twins. Male and female energy was able to coexist and grow in my blood for the first time. I pray that I am able to break the generational curses in my family and that my children will have less complicated lives.”

3Beyoncé came up with the theme of her Coachella performance one day while putting Rumi to sleep and she started singing the black national anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

“I had a clear vision for Coachella. I was so specific because I’d seen it, I’d heard it, and it was already written inside of me. One day I was randomly singing the black national anthem to Rumi while putting her to sleep. I started humming it to her every day. In the show at the time I was working on a version of the anthem with these dark minor chords and stomps and belts and screams.

“After a few days of humming the anthem, I realized I had the melody wrong. I was singing the wrong anthem. One of the most rewarding parts of the show was making that change. I swear I felt pure joy shining down on us. I know that most of the young people on the stage and in the audience did not know the history of the black national anthem before Coachella. But they understood the feeling it gave them.

“It was a celebration of all the people who sacrificed more than we could ever imagine, who moved the world forward so that it could welcome a woman of color to headline such a festival.”

4Performing in Berlin at the site of the 1936 Olympics for the “On The Run II” stadium tour was a memorable moment for Beyoncé.

“One of the most memorable moments for me on the On the Run II tour was the Berlin show at Olympiastadion, the site of the 1936 Olympics. This is a site that was used to promote the rhetoric of hate, racism, and divisiveness, and it is the place where Jesse Owens won four gold medals, destroying the myth of white supremacy.

“Less than 90 years later, two black people performed there to a packed, sold-out stadium. When Jay and I sang our final song, we saw everyone smiling, holding hands, kissing, and full of love. To see such human growth and connection—I live for those moments.”

5Beyoncé says she’s deliberate about how she presents herself to the world, and she wants to give her children the freedom to whatever they want to do in life.

“My mother taught me the importance not just of being seen but of seeing myself. As the mother of two girls, it’s important to me that they see themselves too—in books, films, and on runways. It’s important to me that they see themselves as CEOs, as bosses, and that they know they can write the script for their own lives—that they can speak their minds and they have no ceiling. They don’t have to be a certain type or fit into a specific category. They don’t have to be politically correct, as long as they’re authentic, respectful, compassionate, and empathetic. They can explore any religion, fall in love with any race, and love who they want to love.

“I want the same things for my son. I want him to know that he can be strong and brave but that he can also be sensitive and kind. I want my son to have a high emotional IQ where he is free to be caring, truthful, and honest. It’s everything a woman wants in a man, and yet we don’t teach it to our boys.

“I hope to teach my son not to fall victim to what the internet says he should be or how he should love. I want to create better representations for him so he is allowed to reach his full potential as a man, and to teach him that the real magic he possesses in the world is the power to affirm his own existence.

“I’m in a place of gratitude right now. I am accepting of who I am. I will continue to explore every inch of my soul and every part of my artistry. I want to learn more, teach more, and live in full. I’ve worked long and hard to be able to get to a place where I can choose to surround myself with what fulfills and inspires me.”

Blue Ivy Carter Is a Whole Entire #Mood in Family’s European Yacht Vacation Photos

Beyoncé and JAY-Z are pretty guarded when it comes to showing off their kids, so whenever they do, it’s kinda like a big deal.

Earlier this week, Beyoncé uploaded a slew of photos showing the Carters living their best lives on a luxury yacht they chartered for a vacation in Europe following the conclusion of the European leg of her “On The Run II Tour” with husband JAY-Z.

RELATED: Beyoncé Shows Off Twins Rumi and Sir Carter in Rare Photos Taken During European Yacht Vacation

Most of the photos were of Bey and Jay, but we were also treated to rare photos of the couple’s year-old twins Sir and Rumi Carter, as well as new pics of 6-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, who was pretty much #VacationGoals throughout the whole trip.

One photo shows her standing in a mini-pool and looking completely unbothered while wearing a black and white ruffled swimsuit (which probably costs more than your rent) and a pair of chic sunglasses with a refreshing orange-colored beverage in her hand, looking like a mini-Yoncé.

Another photo shows her wearing an adorable zigzag-patterned two-piece bikini she matched with a statement necklace, straw hat and pink shirt, again with a pair of sunglasses.

She can also be seen meditating with Beyoncé in other photos, and spending time with mom and grandma Tina Lawson in other photos. One pic shows Bey and Blue wearing matching pink outfits.

Twitter immediately took notice of Blue Ivy’s worry-free European yacht vacation.

Beyoncé Shows Off Twins Rumi and Sir Carter in Rare Photos Taken During European Yacht Vacation

Beyoncé shared a bunch of photos on her official website showing her family’s recent vacation in Europe following the European leg of her “On the Run II Tour” with husband JAY-Z, and much to our delight, a few of the photos included the couple’s 1-year-old twins Sir and Rumi Carter, who we’ve seen very little of over the past year.

In one photo, which quickly went viral on social media, Beyoncé can be seen holding the cuties, with Sir mean mugging on one side (like his dad) and Rumi smiling, showing off two little baby teeth on the other.

Another photo shows JAY-Z holding Rumi’s hand as they look at the scenery from the balcony of their chartered $180 million luxury yacht, and a third pic shows Beyoncé holding Rumi by herself. You can’t see her face in the photo, but you can tell it’s her.

JAY-Z gushed about his youngest children back in January during an interview with CNN’s Van Jones. “We are in a beautiful time now because they are seven months and they can’t move,” he said jokingly. “They can just coo … they just coo and you don’t have to, ‘Wait, wait, wait, wait.’”

He added: “You know, they’re not running anywhere yet. We are going to enjoy these couple of months until they start running, and then it’s over.”

With the twins being 1-year-olds now, they’re definitely at that dreaded “running” around stage and probably getting into a lot of mischief in the process.

Grandma Tina Lawson shared an adorable photo of the twins last month around their first birthday. “My babies,” she wrote in the caption.

Rumi and Sir have grown so much since the first time we saw them one year ago on their 1-month birthday:

Welp, Here They Are! The FIRST PHOTOS of Drake’s Newborn Son Adonis!

Newly released photos show Drake’s infant son Adonis.

Thanks to the release of Drake’s latest album Scorpion, the mystery behind whether Drake was hiding a child has officially been solved. In not just one, not two, but THREE songs from the project, Drake confirms that yes, he IS the father of Baby Adonis, and even though he doesn’t outright mention neither Adonis nor his former porn star baby mama Sophie Brussaux’s name, we know exactly who he’s talking about.

In “Emotionless”—a song featured on the “A Side” of Scorpion, Drake raps, “I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world/I was hidin’ the world from my kid/From empty souls who just wake up and looked to debate/Until you starin’ at your seed, you can never relate.”

He adds, “Breakin’ news in my life, I don’t run to the blogs/The only ones I wanna tell are the ones I can call/They always ask, ‘Why let the story run if it’s false?’ You know a wise man once said nothin’ at all.”

Drake is basically saying that by not revealing that he has a son, he was protecting Adonis from the scrutiny from the world that comes along with being the lovechild of the biggest rapper alive. He also explains why he never confirmed set the record straight on the reports that he denied the child and was a deadbeat father, which were perpetuated by Pusha T’s “Story of Adidon” diss track.

Drizzy also addresses his relationship with his now 8-month-old son Adonis’ mother by referencing Michael Jackson’s hit “Billie Jean” in the song “March 14″—which is the last track on the album and is featured on the “B Side.”

“She’s not my lover like Billie Jean but the kid is mine / Sandi used to tell me all it takes is one time, and all it took was one time / Sh**, we only met two times, two times,” he raps. Here, he’s saying that his mother, Sandi Graham, warned him that it only took one instance of unprotected sex to make a baby, and in his case, it was two.

He continues, “Now it’s rough times, I’m out here on front lines / Just tryin’ to make sure that I see him sometimes / It’s breakin’ my spirit / Single father, I hate when I hear it / I used to challenge my parents on every album / Now I’m embarrassed to tell them I ended up as a co-parent / Always promised the family unit / I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it.”

Drake’s saying that he always wanted to have a family, but because he grew up in a single-parent household, he’s never wanted that for his children. Instead, he wanted to do things the so-called “right way” by fathering children with his wife. He also talks about how his busy schedule doesn’t allow him to see his son as much as he would like.

On “March 14,” Drake confirms that Adonis was born on October 11th, just two weeks before his own birthday on October 24th, and he says he celebrated in Miami when the DNA test confirmed that he was the boy’s father on March 14th, hence the track’s title.

Drake also reveals that he while he rushed out and bought a crib for his son, he’s only met him once at Christmas time, confirming reports that he flew Adonis and Sophia out via private jet for the Holidays last year. “I only met you one time, introduced you to Saint Nick / I think he musta brought you like 20 gifts / Your mother say you growin’ so fast that they don’t even really fit / But man, you know / I still had to get it for my boy though.”

The rapper goes on to say that he’s looking forward to another visit and he hopes that his relationship with Sophie improves: “They said that in two weeks you’re supposed to come in town / Hopefully by the time you hear this / Me and your mother will have come around/Instead of always cuttin’ each other down.”

Drake addresses the topic for a third time on the track “8 Out of 10,” which is also what fans believe is a direct response to the Pusha T diss track: “The only deadbeats is whatever beats I been rappin’ to,”he raps, followed by “Never a matter of ‘could I?’ or ‘should I?’ / Kiss my son on the forehead then kiss your ass goodbye.”

The song concludes with audio from a viral Plies video in which the rapper talks about refusing to argue with people: “I can’t argue wit you. You mad … I don’t get paid to argue with you… who is you? You ain’t nobody. You mad!”

Who knows whether Drake would have even mentioned Adonis if Pusha T hadn’t forced his hand, but the good thing is that Drake is definitely stepping up and at least trying to be a father to the kid.

That being said, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the child. Hell, we don’t even know if his name is really Adonis, but thanks to some new photos shared online, we do have a first glimpse at what Drake’s firstborn looks like.

Though Sophie has declined to show off her child to the rest of the world, the internet will always internet and pull out those receipts. The photos posted here don’t reveal a whole lot, but it’s the only real first look we have of Adonis and shows more of his face than the original photos Sophie posted on her Instagram.

It looks like these photos were taken shortly after Sophie gave birth, as she can be seen wearing a hospital bracelet in one of the pics. Adonis is now 8 months old and probably looks very different.

Kenya Moore Posts New Baby Bump Photos for Her Haters Amid RHOA Demotion Rumors

Kenya Moore is still trying to prove to ya’ll that she’s pregnant. Amid continued speculation she’s faking her pregnancy, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star has posted another photo showing off her tiny baby bump.

In a sponsored Instagram post for exercise pants, Kenya gave her followers a glimpse of her growing bump uncovered and in all its glory. “Trying to stay fit for baby,” she wrote in the post last week.

Kenya first debuted her baby bump earlier this month, but people still questioned whether she was faking the pregnancy for an RHOA storyline or if she was really using a surrogate. I guess with all the rumors swirling, she then felt “compelled” to share a video of an ultrasound when she first heard the baby’s heartbeat.

This will be the first child for the 49-year-old, who married Marc Daly last year. She announced her pregnancy while taping the RHOA reunion in mid-March and made it clear that she was NOT using a surrogate. Andy Cohen has also confirmed that Kenya is in fact pregnant.

Kenya’s also facing rumors that she’s lost her RHOA peach. Some reports suggest she was demoted to “friend” and replaced by Eva Marcille, who made her Atlanta debut last season.

Producers were reportedly upset with Kenya for not informing them of her secret wedding to Daly last year. She then refused to shoot any scenes with her husband for the show and was penalized by producers. However, Daly eventually appeared briefly in one episode towards the end of the season.

Kenya’s future with RHOA was still in limbo when filming wrapped. It seems her pregnancy is what saved her, even if it’s only “friend” status.

The official cast for The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 11 has not been confirmed, though filming should begin in the coming months, if not, weeks.

Ray J & Princess Love Share First Photos of Newborn Daughter Melody Love Norwood

Ray J and Princess Love welcomed their first child together, a beautiful baby girl named Melody Love Norwood, on Wednesday, May 23nd, 2018, and now the couple is showing off the first photos of their newborn daughter.

The Love & Hip Hop Hollywood stars released the photos of their daughter via OK! Magazine and Instagram.

“This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life,” Ray told OK! exclusively after Melody’s birth. “I’m so glad my daughter is finally here! And I can’t wait to begin life as a dad.”

According to OK!, Princess was in labor for 24 hours and the whole experience was captured by VH1 cameras for a future Love & Hip Hop Hollywood baby special to air this summer.

Check out the first photos of Baby Melody and her nursery below:

Months before Baby Melody made her big arrival, reports emerged that Ray J was cheating on his pregnant wife with another woman.

Princess Love shared a cryptic message on Instagram that read, “The problem is women think he will change, he won’t. And men make the mistake of thinking she will never leave, she will.” She captioned the photo: “Keep foolin the world but you can’t fool me anymore.”

She also shared a since-deleted tweet hinting at some behind-the-scenes drama: “If you’re going to stay with a man, do it because that’s what you truly want. Never stay because of children… When they grow up, then what???” She said in another now-deleted tweet: “To me, for better or worse doesn’t mean cheating.. that’s like saying stay with a man that beats you.”

Then, a video of Ray J in a hotel room surfaced and social media sleuths thought they saw a woman in the shower, which fueled the cheating speculation even further. There were also photos released showing Ray J without his wedding ring while out at a nightclub with friends.

Though many fans seemed to believe Ray J possibly cheated on Princess, there were a number of people who were convinced all of this was a publicity stunt for a storyline for the upcoming season of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood.

Publicity stunt or not, we hope that Ray and Princess have put all of this behind them (ESPECIALLY RAY) for the sake of their newborn daughter.

Brigitte Nielsen, 54, Is Pregnant By Her 39-Year-Old Husband (PHOTOS)

Brigitte Nielsen is with child!

The 54-year-old actress announced on Instagram that she will become a mother for the fifth time.

“Family getting larger,” she wrote in the caption of one of the pictures showing off her growing baby bump. The caption on another photo reads “Happy time” and “Positive vibes.”

Nielson, who has been married five times, is already a mom to four sons: 23-year-old Raoul Meyer Jr., 25-year-old Douglas Meyer, 28-year-old Killian Gastineau and 34-year-old Julian Winding. Her fifth husband, 39-year-old Mattia Dessi, whom she married in 2006, is the father of her new baby.

Nielson—known for her towering 6-foot-1 stature—rose to fame starring alongside her second husband, Sylvester Stallone, in “Rocky IV” and “Cobra.” Nielson and Stallone were married from 1985 to 1987. The actress was also married to Kasper Winding (her first husband) from 1983 to 1984, Sebastian Copeland (husband number three) from 1990 to 1992, and Raoul Meyer (husband four) from 1993 to 2005.

In 2005, Nielson found love with rapper Flavor Flav after they appeared together on the VH1 reality series “The Surreal Life.” Their relationship was so captivating that the couple landed their own reality show called “Strange Love,” however, their union was short-lived.

Nielson and Flav, who she affectionately called “foofy foofy,” didn’t make it past the year 2005. Nielson and Mattia Dessi married a year later, and she revealed in an interview back in 2008 that she wanted more children.

“The children have kept me going. After I do Playboy, we want to try IVF,” she said at the time, when she was 45 years old. “It’s asking a lot, but if it’s possible, it would make our package complete.”

The Danish actress joins a growing list of celebrity women who are choosing to have children later in life, including Janet Jackson (who gave birth to her first child, son Eissa, at 50 years old), Halle Berry (who had children at 41 and 47 years old), Mariah Carey (who gave birth to twins at age 43), Kenya Moore (who is reportedly expecting her first child at 47) and more.
