East Pittsburgh Police Officer Identified in Antwon Rose Shooting

The East Pittsburgh police officer who shot and killed 17-year-old Antwon Rose while he ran away from cops during a traffic stop Tuesday (Jun. 19) has been identified as 30-year-old Michael Rosfeld, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Rosfeld had only been on duty in East Pittsburgh for three weeks and been sworn in just 90 minutes before the shooting. He was placed on leave after the shooting and has not commented. It isn’t clear if he has retained an attorney.

Authorities said Rosfeld pulled over the car Rose was in Tuesday night because it matched the description of a vehicle used just minutes earlier in a shooting in a neighboring town. As Rosfeld took the driver into custody, Rose and another not-yet-identified passenger jumped out of the car and ran.

Video footage recorded by an eyewitness shows Rosfeld shooting Rose in the back as he fled the scene. After gunshots were heard, the person recording the video gasps in shock and can be heard saying, “Why are they shooting at them? … All they did was run and they’re shooting at them?”

The teen, who lives in Rankin (a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania about 8 miles south of Pittsburgh), was taken to the hospital via ambulance and was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m.

An eyewitness told WTAE-TV that she saw the whole thing go down from her porch. She said she saw officers approaching the vehicle with their guns drawn, and when the officers handcuffed the driver, that’s when the two passengers opened their doors and took off running. She then heard shots fired.

The shooting occurred in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a borough with about 2,000 residents in Allegheny County that is about 15 minutes outside the city of Pittsburgh. According to police, the incident began with another shooting in neighboring North Braddock. The 22-year-old male who was shot in the shooting police were initially responding to was taken to the hospital and survived.

Police said Officer Rosfeld fired three shots and Rose was hit three times. Allegheny County Police Department Superintendent Coleman McDonough said he “briefly saw” the video footage of the shooting.

“It’s important, however it has to be taken in the context of the entire investigation,” he said. “It’s a snapshot in time and while important, it will be factored into the larger totality of the investigation.”

McDonough added, “I understand in today’s atmosphere any time a young man is killed there’s cause for outrage in some areas. However, I would urge people to give us time to conduct an objective investigation, to gather facts. As you know, social media is so prolific now, some of the initial postings on social media that came out directly after this incident were inaccurate and inflammatory. So I would urge that people in the community give us a chance to conduct an investigation and I guarantee that’s what they will get from the Allegheny Police.”

McDonough said there are rare times when shooting someone in the back can be justified.

“It’s very complex, there are a lot of dynamics. There is something called a reactionary gap between the time a human perceives a threat and is able to act on it,” he explained. “Things happen, people turn around and things. I’m not saying that any of that applies to this situation because it’s too early and we can’t make judgments. Ultimately, our findings will go to the district attorney and he will make that judgment whether or not this was a justified use of force by a police officer.”

The investigation into Rose’s shooting is ongoing. Police said two firearms were found in the car Rose ran from, but authorities have said they didn’t find a gun near Rose or on his person after he was shot. Bystanders said he was not armed and had his back to officers when he was gunned down.

McDonough said the officer was conducting a “felony traffic stop” and ordered the driver out and had him “prone” on the ground. He said the officer also gave a command to the other occupants in the vehicle and that’s when they took off running. McDonough said he believes police gave Rose a verbal order before the shots were fired.

McDonough said he was confident the vehicle officers pulled over was the one used in the shooting. He said it matched the description given by eyewitnesses and had damage to the back window that was possibly caused by gunshots returned by the shooting victim during the first incident.

The driver of the vehicle was released after being interviewed by detectives and was not charged. The driver told police he worked as a jitney, an unlicensed cab driver, and was working in that role Tuesday night, according to the Post-Gazette. Police confirmed the driver had worked as a jitney in the past.

The other man who ran from the vehicle was not apprehended, and police are asking him to turn himself in “so that he can give a comprehensive description of what occurred.”

Antwon Rose’s shooting death at the hands of police has sparked outrage in the community and all over the United States. A rally was held in East Pittsburgh Wednesday amid a heavy rain shower.

XXXTentacion’s Alleged Killer Dedrick Williams Charged With Murder in 1st Court Appearance, Denied Bond

Dedrick D. Williams, the man accused of murdering XXXTentacion, appeared in court Thursday afternoon (Jun. 21) to answer to the charges he’s facing in the rapper’s shooting death.

The video footage from court shows Williams going before the judge at the Broward County Courthouse and he was formally charged with 1 count of first-degree murder and 1 count of grand theft auto.

Apparently, Williams has retained the services of a public defender, who said that there has been no witnesses or testimony in the case, and all the courts had to arrest him was a probable cause affidavit.

But the judge made it clear that based on the court docs, she found probable cause and “proof of guilt to be evident or the presumption great,” so she chose to hold him without bond in regards to the murder charge.

Williams was also hit with a probation violation stemming from a 2014 case and will appear in court Monday (Jun. 25) for that.

As we previously reported, Williams—an 11-time felon—was arrested Wednesday night in South Florida after a police chase (he had also stolen a car, hence the grand theft auto charge). His criminal record includes arrests for cocaine possession, weapons possession, domestic violence, aggravated assault with a firearm and grand theft auto.

Authorities believe there are at least two others involved in XXX’s murder, and according to TMZ, there are two other arrest arrests that have been signed by a judge. The two suspects haven’t been taken into custody yet, but they could be arrested before the end of the week.

XXXTentacion was gunned down Monday afternoon (Jun. 18) in broad daylight as he sat in his car after leaving RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida, which is not too far from where he lives.

The shooting happened in front of several witnesses, who reported seeing “masked men” fleeing the scene. X was reportedly shot in the neck and died instantly.

A Louis Vuitton bag was stolen from the scene and police have yet to determine if the men accused of XXXTentacion’s murder had any personal ties to the entertainer.

XXXTentacion Murder Suspect Arrested (MUGSHOT)

The man accused of murdering XXXTentacion has been arrested.

TMZ first broke the news that 22-year-old Dedrick D. Williams was taken into custody by the Broward County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday (Jun. 20) and was booked for first-degree murder for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of XXXTentacion.

During a vigil in South Florida Wednesday night, X’s mother reportedly told family and friends she had gotten word from police that they had XXX’s alleged murder in custody.

Someone at the vigil mentioned that there was a chase on highway I-95, which ended with cops arresting Williams for X’s murder.

Williams was arrested for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license, violating his probation, and, of course, allegedly murdering XXXTentacion. His charges include first-degree murder and grand theft auto. He’s currently being held in Broward County’s main jail facility with no bond for his murder charge, though his driving without a license charge has a $25 bail.

You can see Williams’ charges in detail via his arrest report below:

According to the Miami Herald, Williams was in the middle of serving five years probation on four counts of grand theft auto when he was arrested Wednesday.

TMZ reports Williams, who has at least 11 felonies on his record, has been arrested before for crimes including cocaine possession, weapons possession, domestic violence, and aggravated assault with a firearm. During an incident in 2014, he allegedly held a gun to his girlfriend’s head.

According to an Instagram profile with the username “_tattoomanchucky” that appears to belong to Williams, he is a tattoo artist. Coincidentally, a June 5th post is captioned: “Thank God I ain’t dead or behind bars.”

His most recent post was around 1 p.m. EST Wednesday afternoon, not too long before his arrest.

XXXTentacion was shot and killed Monday afternoon (Jun. 18) as he sat in his car after leaving RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

In the just over a minute-long video, the rapper talks to fans about his life ending prematurely, saying that if “worse thing comes to worse” and he dies “a tragic death or some sh*t” before getting the chance to live out his dream, he hopes that kids hear his message, are able to make something of themselves and use his message to make something positive out of it. “If I’m gonna die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least 5 million kids happy.”

Chicago YouTube Vlogger Killed in Drive By Shooting

3Zachary Stoner had a popular YouTube channel called “ZackTV” (aka “The Hood CNN”) with over 170,000 subscribers where he interviewed and promoted up-and-coming Chicago rappers. He also interviewed friends of Kenneka Jenkins, the young woman who was found dead in a hotel freezer.

Zachary Stoner was known for interviewing and promoting a number of up-and-coming Chicago rappers via his “ZackTV” YouTube channel, which boasted over 170,000 subscribers and featured thousands of videos, some with millions of views. He also interviewed Chicago gang members and highlighted the city’s infamous gun violence problem.

Stoner was credited with giving some of Chicago’s most controversial artists their first on-camera exposure, including then-teenage drill music pioneer Chief Keef. He also posted clips showing young men from rival gangs flashing guns and threatening each other.

Stoner described himself on Twitter, where had had over 14K followers, as the “best interviewer in the world” who took his faith in God and his camera to “some of the dangerous hoods in America.”

Eerily, one of his last tweets posted just hours before his murder was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the “death” of rapper Drake as a result of his beef with Pusha T.

ZackTV said in an April interview with the Chicago Defender that he wanted to show an alternative view of Chicago and its residents with his YouTube channel, which was often nicknamed the “Hood CNN.”

“I wanted to show the world the other side of Chicago. Back when I was growing up, we had Common and Kanye West. Those are great brothers and great entertainers, but I didn’t think they represented Chicago the way that I’ve seen Chicago,” Stoner said. “I wanted to show the world what the other side of Chicago looks like … our culture—the way we dress, what we eat, how we talk, how we walk.”

The Defender wrote that Stoner “documents what others neglect and repeatedly interviews personalities who many had hoped would never grace a camera. His videos are not fluffy, glitzy, and sentimental documentary shorts; on the contrary, they are more like visceral punches to the gut that can leave you either inspired for change or disturbed by reality.”

“A lot of people respect what I do. I’m the ‘Hood CNN,’” Stoner told The Defender. “A news station is one-sided. They’ll get your full interview, but they will cut and edit and put whatever they want out. Whatever you say to me will get put out in full no matter if it’s positive or negative. I show both sides.”

Two of ZackTV’s most popular interviews were with friends of Kenneka Jenkins, the young woman was who became the subject of a viral story and public investigation after she was found dead in a freezer at a Chicago hotel.

In one interview, Zack spoke with Jenkins’ friend Irene Roberts, who also went viral on social media in connection with the case after her Facebook Live video showing the hotel party was dissected by internet sleuths in an effort to determine what happened to Jenkins.

Another interview was with two men who were also at the hotel party before Jenkins was found dead. Both interviews were published in November 2017, two months after Kenneka’s death, which was ultimately ruled an accident.

Just three days before Stoner’s murder, Jenkins was remembered on Sunday (May 27) during a tribute at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois where she died. The celebration of life marked what would have been the Chicago teen’s 20th birthday, ABC7 reported.

ZackTV’s most recent interview was posted on Sunday (May 27), featuring Drake of Chiraq discussing the recent shooting death of Chicago rapper Mubu Krump and King Yella being in federal prison.

Former Florida Official Shot in the Head by Wife Over Google Search Dispute; Wife Charged with Attempted Murder

A dispute over a Google search has left former Florida official Tony Brown in critical condition after being shot in the back of the head by his wife.

Former Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency executive director Tony Brown, 58, was airlifted to UF Health Hospital on Tuesday (May 29). He is scheduled to have brain surgery on Thursday to remove bullet fragments.

Lawanda Brown, Tony’s wife, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempted murder. A judge set bond at $500,002. As of this writing, she remains held in Nassau County Jail.

“It was all a blur,” Lawanda described the shooting to investigators.

According to the 57-year-old, the confrontation began after Tony asked his wife to do a Google search for a template to use for a project the couple was working on. Lawanda says she didn’t like Tony’s tone and could tell that he was not happy with how she was conducting the search.

Authorities arrived at the couple’s Fernandina Beach home around 1:30 p.m. to find Tony lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound in the back of his head. Tony was walking away from Lawanda prior to being shot.

Police found a .38 caliber handgun in the couple’s bedroom.

Tony became Riviera Beach’s CRA director in 2010 but was fired in 2016, along with the CRA chairman, due to concerns with their leadership.

In 2001, President George W. Bush nominated Tony for a position in the U.S. Treasury Department. Prior to the nomination, Tony was a Senior Vice President for Bank of America in Jacksonville, Fla.

He’s now CEO of T. Brown Consulting Group, a consulting business he runs with his wife and alleged shooter, Lawanda. The two were working on a project together in their home office at the time of the incident.

A friend of the family says Tony is lucid and speaking, his condition was recently upgraded from critical to serious and stable. But brain surgery to remove bullet fragments is still needed.
