Anne Hathaway: Actress says she’s fat-shamed ‘all the time’

ANNE Hathaway is explaining why she decided to pre-emptively tell her social media followers that she was gaining weight for an upcoming movie role.

“It sounds kinda sad to say, I just wanted to be able to enjoy my summer and let everybody know that I’m living in my body and I’m happy with my body,” she told Hoda Kotb on the Today show on Thursday. “And if my body is different than what you’re used to, or what you think it should be, that’s yours. And my experience is mine and I’m loving it.”

Kotb went on to ask the 35-year-old actor if she often gets fat-shamed.

“All the time,” Hathaway responded, adding that sometimes the comments are overt and sometimes not.

“One of my favourite things that’s happening in this moment is that a lot of us are looking at the language that we choose and we’re becoming more conscious about it,” she said, then explaining what happened to her when she was younger: “So, maybe someone thought that it wasn’t a big deal to say to a 16-year-old … ‘Congratulations, you got the part. You can’t gain any more weight.’”

The Ocean’s 8 star continued, “Maybe they thought that they were giving me some good advice, but now, 20 years later, I’m able to say, ‘I actually think that could have done more consciously and more loving.’ It left me feeling confused. A lot of us are taking up this opportunity to become more conscious and more loving in the way that we communicate with each other. More compassionate, I guess.”

In April, Hathaway posted a video of herself doing an intense workout video and captioned it, “I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well. To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it’s not me, it’s you. Peace.”

President Trump Cancels Meeting With North Korea Leader Kim Jong Un Due to “Open Hostility”

President Donald Trump will not be meeting with Kim Jong Un in June, according to a letter addressed to North Korea’s Supreme Leader from the president. The letter was released by The White House Thursday morning (May 24).

The meeting, which was scheduled for June 12th in Singapore, would have been a historic diplomatic summit between the United States and North Korea, who haven’t been on good terms over the years. In fact, that meeting would have been the first EVER face-to-face meeting between a U.S. and North Korean leader.

However, Trump says that he feels that it would be “inappropriate” to have this “long-planned meeting” due to the “tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement.”

The most “most recent statement” Trump is referring to came from North Korean’s vice minister of foreign affairs, Choe Son Hui, who called Vice President Mike Wednesday a “political dummy” on Wednesday.

“You talk about nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used,” President Trump said in his letter.

Pyongyang had threatened to pull out of next month’s summit with the U.S., citing the “unbridled and impudent remarks” of “political dummy” Mike Pence, who said that North Korea might end up “like Libya” if Kim Jong Un “doesn’t make a deal.” Pence’s statement was a clear reference to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was beaten and killed after being chased down by rebel soldiers in 2011—eight years following his decision to denuclearize after negotiations with the U.S.

Choe said that North Korea has no interest in meeting the same “tragic fate” as Libya. “As a person involved in the U.S. affairs, I cannot suppress my surprise at such ignorant and stupid remarks gushing out from the mouth of the U.S. vice president,” Choe said, according to a translation from Wall Street Journal reporter Jonathan Cheng.

“In case the U.S. offends against our goodwill and clings to unlawful and outrageous acts, I will put forward a suggestion to our supreme leadership for reconsidering the [Kim-Trump] summit,” Choe added, saying that it was up to the U.S. to decide whether it wanted ot negotiate in a “meeting room or encounter us [in a] unclear-to-nuclear showdown.”

Read Choe’s full statement below:

But it looks like Trump beat North Korea to the punch by canceling the meeting himself. Read his full letter to North Korea below:

We greatly appreciate your time, patience, and effort with respect to our recent negotiations and discussions relative to a summit long sought by both parties, which was scheduled to take place on June 12 in Singapore. We were informed that the meeting was requested by North Korea, but that to us is totally irrelevant. I was very much looking forward to being there with you. Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting. Therefore, please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world, will not take place. You talk about nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used.

I felt a wonderful dialogue was building up between you and me, and ultimately, it is only that dialogue that matters. Some day, I look very much forward to meeting you. In the meantime, I want to thank you for the release of the hostages who are now home with their families. That was a beautiful gesture and was very much appreciated.

If you change your mind having to do with this most important summit, please do not hesitate to call me or write. The world, and North Korea in particular, has lost a great opportunity for lasting peace and great prosperity and wealth. This missed opportunity is a truly sad moment in history.

Bella Hadid plastic surgery: Model denies having fillers, nose job

BELLA Hadid said she has not had fillers or cosmetic surgery because she is “scared to mess up” her face.

“People think I got all this surgery or did this or that. And you know what? We can do a scan of my face, darling,” Hadid told InStyle in a new interview.

“I’m scared of putting fillers into my lips. I wouldn’t want to mess up my face.”

That is despite the hugely successful New York-based model sporting visibly plumper lips and a smaller nose to past photos, with comparisons circulating widely on social media.

Hadid, 21, said she had simply grown into her looks and used contouring makeup techniques, going so far to describe her face as “weird”.

“People think I’m very confident, but I really had to learn how to be,” the face of Dior Beauty said, according to InStyle.

Hadid previously hit back at Instagram trolls who had accused her and BFF Kendall Jenner of being “fake” in their looks.

“I wish you would know either of our personalities,” Hadid wrote in the comments of her Instagram account.

“And not only that, I wish you would only grasp a heart of your own. Blessings to you sweetheart.

“Jealously is a cry for help that I wish I could help you with.”

Morgan Freeman Accused of Sexual Harassment By At Least 8 Women

Legendary actor Morgan Freeman is the latest celebrity to see his name added to a growing list of Hollywood’s alleged sexual offenders.

Just one week before his 81st birthday, the Academy Award winner is making headlines today after at least eight women have come forward accusing the actor of sexually harassing them over several years on the set of his movies or during media events related to his projects.

CNN says they spoke to 16 people—eight of whom claim they were victims and eight who were witnesses to the alleged misconduct—describing multiple troubling incidents throughout Freeman’s career.

One of the allegations comes from a young production assistant, who said that in the summer of 2015, while she was working on Freeman’s bank heist comedy Going In Style, she was subjected to harassment that spanned over a period of several months.

She told CNN that Freeman repeatedly tried to lift up her skirt to see if she was wearing underwear and also made unwanted comments about her figure. She said Freeman’s co-star, Alan Arkin, saw what was happening and told Freeman to stop. “Morgan got freaked out and didn’t know what to say,” she recalled.

Another woman who worked with Freeman on the movie “Now You See Me” in 2012 as senior production staff member told CNN that Freeman would often make comments about her body and that of another female staffer, saying that women on set knew how to cover up whenever he was around. “We knew that if he was coming by … not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted,” she said.

A CNN reporter also said that she was subjected to Freeman’s alleged misconduct, recalling a 2015 media junket in which Freeman told her she looked “ripe.” She was six months pregnant at the time and alleges that Morgan said to her “Boy, do I wish I was there” to see her conceive her child.

At the request of a spokesperson for Freeman, CNN e-mailed a “detailed list” of the accusations against the actor—who was once accused of having an illicit affair with his late step-granddaughter, whom he’d known since she was a child—but has so far not received a response.

Donald Trump is considering pardoning TV star Martha Stewart

US President Donald Trump is considering pardoning television personality Martha Stewart.

“I think to a certain extent Martha Stewart was harshly and unfairly treated,” he told reporters aboard air force One overnight, the New York Postreports.

“And she used to be my biggest fan in the world … before I became a politician,” he said. “But that’s okay, I don’t view it that way.”

media_cameraMartha Stewart leaves Manhattan Federal Court after guilty verdicts in her federal stock fraud trial in New York in March 2004. Picture: AP

Stewart was found guilty in 2004 of conspiracy charges and of making false statements to federal investigators during an insider-trading investigation into her sale of ImClone stock just before it plunged in value.

She spent five months in a federal prison in West Virginia, and served another five months under house arrest.

Mr Trump appears to be right that she is no longer a fan of his — she gave the finger to a portrait of him at an art fair in New York last year.

However, while Mr Trump is no doubt displeased at Stewart’s comments about him those feelings pale in comparison to how he feels about the man who prosecuted her case.

The US lawyer for the Southern District of New York in 2003 who got Stewart thrown in prison was none other than former FBI boss James Comey.

Mr Comey was fired by Mr Trump last year and has since written a book scathing about the US President.

Mr Trump also said he was thinking of commuting the sentence of disgraced former politician Illinois Govenor Rod Blagojevich.

Blagojevich has been behind bars since 2012 and is about halfway through serving a 14-year-sentence on public corruption charges for trying to sell a state Senate seat once held by Barack Obama.

“Plenty of other politicians have said a lot worse. And it doesn’t, he shouldn’t have been put in jail,” Mr Trump said.

“If you read his statement it was a foolish statement there was a lot of bravado.”

In 2010, Mr Trump fired Blagojevich when he appeared on his Celebrity Apprentice show on NBC.

In a commentary piece published in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, Blagojevich claimed he was the victim of the country’s out-of-control law enforcement agencies.

“The rule of law is under assault in America. It is being perverted and abused by the people sworn to enforce and uphold it,” he wrote in the newspaper. “Some in the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation are abusing their power to criminalise the routine practices of politics and government. ”

President Trump has been focused on pardoning in recent days. He granted a full pardon to conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza who was convicted of making illegal contributions in a Senate race in New York.

“Will be giving a Full Pardon to Dinesh D’Souza today. He was treated very unfairly by our government! ,” he tweeted.

A day earlier he also met with Kim Kardashian at the White House to discuss the pardoning of US grandmother Alice Marie Johnson, who is serving a life sentence without parole for a first-time, nonviolent offence. She’s been in an Alabama prison for 21 years.

Twitter Drags 43-Year-Old Conservative Pundit for Aging Like an Avocado

Millions of people watched Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding on TV and online.

After the fairytale wedding came the Royal Wedding dress debate, with fans and pop culture/political analysts discussing who had the best wedding dress between the Duchess of Sussex (Meghan) and her new sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton).

“Political dummy” Katie Hopkins weighed in on the debate, saying that it was “no competition,” because, in her opinion, Kate had a certain level of “class” that Meghan doesn’t possess, which wasn’t a surprising comment coming from someone like Katie Hopkins, who has no problem letting people know her distaste for people of color.

A bit of a backstory before we move forward with the hilarious memes: Katie Hopkins is a far-right commentator from the United Kingdom who has said a number of vile things against brown people, including calling someone a “jiggaboo” on Twitter and implying that immigrants should be shot if they try to enter the U.K.

So when Katie—an old, dried up crustacean—came for the insanely beautiful Princess Meghan, Twitter used a bunch of hilarious memes putting the 43-year-old beside folks who are OLDER and prettier than her to let her know she looks terrible for her age, or, as someone put it, she’s “43 going on 93.”

In other words, how the hell are you gonna come for someone’s looks when you’re aging like an avocado?

Also, this is what happens when you’re ugly on the inside:

And y’all… Lemme tell you… the juxtapositions were some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever witnessed on social media, and I’ve been doing this internet thing for a WHILE now.

Take a look at some of my favorites below:

In the words of every black grandma that ever lived, “God don’t like ugly.”

Maybe in the future, Katie Hopkins will think before she speaks. But, who the are we kidding? She’s going to keep spewing foul hateful things from that hole in her face and Twitter is just going to keep dragging her for filth, as they should.

Comedian Samantha Bee sorry for Ivanka Trump c**t slur

FULL Frontal host Samantha Bee has apologised after she used an extreme vulgarity to slam Ivanka Trump in her monologue over a photograph the first daughter shared on social media, calling her a “feckless c**t.

The apology came a day after Bee used the slur on her show.

“I would like to sincerely apologise to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night,” Bee said in a statement, Fox News reported. “It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”

TBS, the network that airs Full Frontal, also issued an apology shortly after Bee’s tweet: “Samantha Bee has taken the right action in apologising for the vile and inappropriate language she used about Ivanka Trump last night. Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it.”

White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders slammed Bee as “vile,” “vicious,” and “not fit for broadcast” and demanded Time Warner, which owns TBS and CNN, “demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”

Ivanka Trump was criticised by several celebrities this week for a snap she shared of her hugging her son amid reports the Office of Refugee Resettlement lost track of 1500 immigrant children in the last three months of 2017.

“Ivanka Trump, who works at the White House, chose to post the second most oblivious tweet we’ve seen this week,” Bee said, citing Roseanne Barr’s racist tweet as the first.

“You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices you feckless c**t!

“He listens to you! Put on something tight and low cut and tell your father to f**king stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes,” she concluded.

The clip of Bee’s monologue was uploaded to her YouTube channel where the words “c**t” and “f**k” were not censored.

Bee’s show, Full Frontal, airs weekly on TBS, an asset of Turner Broadcasting System which also owns CNN, TNT and HLN.

Bee is due to receive a special honour from the Television Academy tonight for “advancing social change” for her work on the show.

The host’s comments were criticised by social media users with some calling for her show to be cancelled.

“If this statement had been addressed to a child of a former president, Samantha Bee would be out of a job,” one social media user wrote.

“Roseanne deserved to get fired for her comment. Samantha Bee called Ivanka a ‘c**t’ on air and Keith Olbermann routinely calls the President a ‘motherf**ker.’ Do you think either will get fired? Maybe see why so many Americans think there’s a media double-standard for liberals,” another tweeted.

media_cameraIvanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, carries her son Theodore as she holds hands with son Joseph, alongside her husband, Jared Kushner (L), senior White House adviser, and daughter Arabella (2nd L). Picture: AFP

Dan Gainor, the vice president of business and culture for Media Research Centre, told Fox News there was a double standard.

“Immediately after the media correctly criticised Roseanne Barr for a racist statement, Samantha Bee tries to outdo her by calling Ivanka Trump the ‘C’ word. Imagine if a conservative did this to Chelsea Clinton or to the Obama daughters. We’d never hear the end of it,” Mr Gainor told Fox News.

“Today media are freaking out about an incorrect (President) Trump tweet saying ABC never apologised for Brian Ross’s incompetent reporting that tanked the stock market,” he said. “They aren’t covering Samantha Bee at all. They would rather protect a discredited journalist than address the insane and hateful comments that come from one of their favourite TV people. ABC set the media-approved standard this week for misbehaviour. When someone does something this disgusting, their show is cancelled.”

Wayment. Did “Dro” and “Tasha” From “Insecure” Just Have a Baby Together?!

Earlier this week, the internet whipped out their Sherlock Holmes magnifying glasses to try and figure out the answer to one burning question: Did “Dro” and “Tasha” from Insecure Just have a baby together?!

Facts: Dominique Perry, who plays Tasha on the hit HBO series Insecure, just gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl. She posted a photo of her daughter, Zen, on Instagram.

Also facts: Fellow Insecure actor Sarunas J. Jackson, who plays Dro on the series, posted another black-and-white photo of a healthy, beautiful baby girl on Instagram Tuesday morning with the caption “NWTS,” referencing Drake’s 2013 album Nothing Was the Same. Social media sleuths immediately noticed the similarities of the photos, despite them being from different angles.

Even more facts: Dominique deleted her photo, essentially confirming that, yup, that’s Sarunas’ baby.

So now that those facts are out of the way, let’s get into the drama.

While fans of the show sent their congratulations to Perry and Jackson on social media, Jackson’s girlfriend, Kaylen Zahara, wrote on social media that she found out about her boyfriend’s new baby online with the rest of world. She posted a video on Instagram talking about how she’s “dodging f**kboy after f**kboy” and even made an “insecure” reference (LOL).

“Ladies, listen to your intuition! These dudes will be in your crib, eating your food & laying up with you, taking you on dates, etc but got kids on the way without you knowing,” she wrote. “These insecure men can never keep it 100. Congrats tho.”

A few hours later, Zahara followed that posts up by saying that she and Jackson were “great friends” and had “cleared the air.”

“I found out with the rest of the world so I ran with my feelings,” she wrote in a response to a commenter. “Sarunas and I are great friends and we’ve cleared the air! No foul play or games were played. He’s going to be an amazing father & we are going to continue to be close friends!”

So, despite their lack of confirmation, it looks like Dominique Perry (“Tasha”) and Sarunas J. Jackson (“Dro”) definitely had a baby together. Meanwhile, The Shade Room says they’ve confirmed “from a reliable source” that Jackson is the father of Perry’s daughter Zen.

So, there you have it, folks! Insecure’s TV drama done spilled on over into real life.

Donald Trump petitioner Kim Kardashian’s criminal justice cases

DONALD Trump has issued a pardon after Kim Kardashian West’s White House visit — but it isn’t the one she was pushing for.

The US President announced he would pardon Dinesh D’Souza, a conservative author who pleaded guilty to arranging illegal campaign donations.

Mr Trump said Mr D’Souza was “treated very unfairly by our government!”

The 71-year-old said he was also considering a pardon for Martha Stewart, who was found guilty in 2004 on charges of conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding, and making false statements to investigators over a stock sale.

He also said he may commute the sentence of former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, who was convicted on multiple charges of corruption, including attempting to “sell” a Senate seat.

Stewart hosted a spinoff of The Apprentice in 2005, while Blagojevich appeared as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice.

Kim’s meeting with the President to ask for a pardon of Alice Johnson had the world divided, with many appalled at the image of the two reality stars wielding power at the White House.

Despite dressing in a conservative black suit to petition the President over prison sentencing, TV star Kim was ridiculed for her efforts.

But the 36-year-old is not one to be silenced by her critics — and she has another, even more heartbreaking, case to fight.

Kim’s appearance at the White House came after Mr Trump’s daughter Ivanka put her in touch with husband Jared Kushner, for whom prison reform is a top priority.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star had a series of phone calls with Mr Kushner about Johnson’s case before the attention-grabbing visit.

Johnson has been in prison since 1996, serving a life sentence without parole for a non-violent drug offence — her first — in which she relayed phone messages. The President has the power to pardon her.

Perhaps remarkably, prison reform is an issue close to Kim’s heart, and she has been quietly working on the issue behind the scenes, consulting her own lawyers and funding a new team for Johnson.

Another case she’s supporting is that of Cyntoia Brown, imprisoned aged 16 for killing a man who had allegedly drawn her into prostitution and sexually assaulted her.

Brown, from Tennessee, was charged for murder as an adult after she admitted to fatally shooting the 43-year-old she said was using her as a sex slave.

Kim isn’t the only celebrity to have spoken out about her case: Cara Delevinge, Snoop Dogg and Rihanna have also voiced their outrage after the story recently went viral as Brown returned to court to plead for clemency.

The hashtag #FreeCyntoiaBrown began trending and a petition circulating calling for a presidential pardon, with Kim saying she had called her lawyers to see what could be done,

The 29-year-old was imprisoned for 60 years, 51 without parole, in 2004 after she was allegedly trafficked by a pimp nicknamed “Kut-throat” in Nashville, Tennessee. She had run away from home and needed somewhere to stay.

Brown said she was repeatedly drugged, raped by different men at gunpoint and choked until she passed out at his hotel room over several days, until she was purchased by a real estate agent for sex.

Ex-militaryman Johnny Allen took her to his home, where he had a stash of guns, and allegedly behaved in a threatening manner.

While lying in bed, Allen rolled over and Brown said thought he was reaching for one of his firearms on the floor. She shot and killed him with a gun she kept stashed in her handbag.

“Cyntoia’s sentence is wholly disproportionate for a 16-year-old girl, and therefore unconstitutional,” Marsha Levick, deputy director and chief counsel for the Juvenile Law Center, argued in a statement.

Riya Saha Shah, senior supervising lawyer at the Juvenile Law Center, said sentencing practices in Tennessee were “unduly harsh, foreclosing both any realistic opportunity for parole or any individualised consideration.”

Republican Governor Haslam has not granted any clemency cases in his tenure.

Kim told Mic, whose social video alerted her to Johnson’s case, that the great-grandmother was the first “of many” prisoners she would fight for.

“If you think about a decision that you’ve made in your life and you get life without the possibility of parole for your first-time, non-violent offence, there’s just something so wrong with that,” she said.

“In all honesty, how I felt I was like, where I’m at in my life right now, to go and spend my money buying material things just doesn’t satisfy me the way that it used to.

“I’m just at a different my place in my life, so I thought, ‘Well, if I could put the money into a shopping spree, which sounds ridiculous, to save someone’s life, and do that once a year, then that would make me, just my heart fuller.”

Whatever you think of the Kardashians, sending a reality star to promote important causes with the fame-obsessed President doesn’t sound like a terrible idea.

And while Kim was criticised for engaging with Mr Trump, the tactic might just work.

Although husband Kanye West recently revealed his admiration for the President in a string of strange tweets and caused widespread offence, Kim was a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton.

“I’m just focused on criminal-justice reform and helping one person at a time. And so far, the White House has been really receptive to my calls, and I’m grateful for that,” she said. “And I’m not going to stop that because people personally don’t like Trump.”

Mr Kushner has made prison reform a priority after his father’s time in the system, and recently pushed through a bill called the First Step Act. It is uncertain, however, whether it will make it through the Senate.

Mr Trump has at times talked tough on criminal punishment, although he said he would sign the act and has pardoned prisoners with strong media or celebrity backing, such as late boxer Jack Johnson.

Barack Obama pardoned more than 1700 people in prison for non-violent drug crimes.

As Kim points out, social media can be powerful, allowing young people to learn about issues and speak out on them. “You can see something that change your life and others.”
